SF X Fantasy Rayforce Analysis

Warning: Spoilers for Legend Hero

Rayforce video link: https://vimeo.com/36014905

SF X Fantasy: RayForce probably would have the same concept that all Tokusatsu have, good vs evil. At least I would believe so. There isn’t any sign of monsters so it would probably be something similar to the hero of the week formula. There would be giant robot battles, evident from eh giant robot at the end. One of the good heroes would have a magic and fantasy theme. The other would have a Science Fiction theme. The use of science fiction and fantasy would explain why its called SF X Fantasy Rayforce, SF for science fiction. There isn’t much that I can take away from the concept video in terms of story other than the basics. Good guys team up to fight bad guys. The concepts I can see that were adapted into Legend Hero I have listed below. I also have some differences listed as well.

              Enjoy

Similarities

  • The female fighter looks similar to Gungson Zhan aka Legend Hero Zhao Yun. They both have super speed.
  • The red fighter with the phoenix motif was adapted into Cao Cao aka Legend Hero Xiahou Dun and Xiahou Yuan
  • The other hero in red with the dragon motif would be Liu Bei.
  • The girl the red dragon hero saves from falling gives him the power to transform and also helps him fight using magic is similar Xu Shu the angel that gives. Liu Bei his powers and later helps him in fights.
  • Using fire to power up weapons, for the red dragon hero it is granted by the magic girl.
  • Giant robot looks like it might combine from two different machines, the only proof I have of that though is that the legs are blue while the top section is red.
  • The magic girls clothing stands out. In the show Xu Shu wears clothing that stands out though she wears all white.
  • The red dragon hero is kind hearted and helps others. Basically saying he’s a good guy that won’t think twice about putting himself in danger to save others, like when he went to protect that little girl. Thats Liu Bei’s personality.

Differences

  • The female fighter doesn’t have a motif or at least one that is easily discernible. Unlike Gungson zhan she doesn’t fight with a lance.
  • There are no hero pieces. Instead the transformation, at least for the dragon hero, seems like it comes from the girl using magic.
  • The phoenix hero seems to have more of a technological motif especially in how he summons his sword through a portal (a science portal).
  • Rayforce seems to be an organization that you can join; the signs at the beginning of the video are evident of this. Rayforce also seems to be public thing instead of a secret.
  • The red dragon hero is based on magic/fantasy themes.
  • Girant robot is all in cg, this might have been just for the concept video though. If the series was given a green light then they might have created an actual suit for it.
  • The magic girl’s clothing does not appear in the show and the way she uses magic is different by a little bit.
  • The concept of sf fantasy ray force would be that one hero is based on fantasy and the other is science fiction. (I think I’m repeating myself)
  • The red phoenix hero is different from Cao Cao as the red phoenix uses his fists and a sword to fight. Cao Cao uses a more unique weapon of a gun that disconnects to become a short sword and tonfa.
  • The red dragon hero has a large collar which looks something similar to a wizard or mage collar. His suit also seems to have a medieval design.
  • The yellow hero has long black hair built into her suits design.
  • The red phoenix hero uses a crystal with a W on it to summon his sword which then opens up a fire blade.
  • The monster combatants (putty patrollers for MMPR fans or for others call them minions).
  • The antagonist doesn’t show up in the show however, he might be the final villain as he seems to hold a lot of clout and be very threatening.
